About Us

The Carnegie Foundation was established as a federal foundation in 1912 and was managed by the federal government until 2008. Since then, it has been run as a private institution under new statutes. The Board of Trustees has the freedom to appoint presidents and members at its discretion, while continuing to respect the will of Andrew Carnegie. The Board consists of at least three volunteer members. Learn more about our Board of Trustees by clicking on the links.
